Essay writing

On the ELT Writing class, after studying the structure of essays and how to write them, we had to write one concerning the importance of the Internet.

Nowadays, Internet has taken all over the world, to the point that we are not able to picture  life without it.
It is a very helpful source in various aspects of our lives, such as in communicating with our friends and
studying.

There is no doubt that internet represents a practical tool in contacting our friends.
Therefore, it is constantly used in our everyday life; for making plans, getting informed in a more accessible
way, entertaining ourselves with movies and captivating music, among other uses. Many believe life
nowadays, simplified to the extent it is, would not be possible without technology.

However, it is generally spoken that the Internet is even more relevant as a studying aid. Currently,
technology is applied in universities and at all levels of school, from kindergarten to secondary school.
Furthermore, in education, technology is an eco-friendly alternative to writing in paper, which is gaining more
and more fame for damaging the environment. It is clearly an easy way of helping the environment and is
generally preferred by students as it takes less time than writing on paper. Moreover, students can get a
wider perspective as they can access more sources (such as internet forums, blogs and online books)
than they would just by reading the material the teacher gives. Contrary to the above ideas, others feel
that traditional methods keep students more focused on the tasks. Nevertheless, many pupils have
claimed that using technology actually makes studying more entertaining and didactic and they are
consequently more focused.

To conclude, the Internet makes our lives smoother by being a studying support and simplifying
communication with our relations.

Evacuation as Calbuco volcano erupts in Chile.

The article published in April 2015, enables us to know that the Calbuco volcano in southern Chile has erupted twice in a few hours, leaving a huge amount of ash and lava on the air. A red alert has sounded, and an emergency director for the region reported that the volcano had not been under any specially form of observation, even though it's one of the most active in Chile, its explosion wasn't expected as it has been dormant for years. People living near to the region affected had been evacuated, as well as Bariloche habitants in Argentina. Also school areas and flights had been canceled. Nearby residents talk about being extremely frightened and of seeing the ashes from far miles away. Although Chile has moré than 500 powerful volcanoes, rumours about haven't seen this never before are growing through residents. The Pacific ring of fire

For the writing class, we had to create a summary of the popular phenomenom that the pacific ring of fire is. Here is mine, hope it´s useful to you!

The pacific ring of fire

The pacific ring of fire is well-known for being an area on the pacific ocean, which lengthens New Zealand, Australia, South America, North America and Eastern Asia. The area is popular for having 75% percent of the world's volcanoes, approximately 452, either active or inactive ones. This phenomenon may be justified by the big amounts of tectonic plates around it, what leads to changes, just as earthquakes, caused by the crush of the many tectonic plates. So, it's very risky for people living in the surroundings, only taking on account that 90 percent of the world's earthquakes occur there, apart from the volcanoes eruptions.
